Tony has over 40 years’ experience in the valuation profession, beginning his valuation career in 1974 with Valuation New Zealand. He qualified from Auckland University in 1977 and remained with Valuation New Zealand until 1980, gaining experience in the valuation of residential, commercial and industrial property together with small rural holdings.
He joined Sheldons in 1981, initially covering the full spectrum of valuation work. Since 1983, Tony has specialised in the industrial and commercial sphere including Auckland’s CBD and on the North Shore where he is a recognised authority. He became a director of the company in 1987.
Following a survey of lending institutions conducted by the Australasian Self-Storage Association, Tony was appointed by that Association as a recommended “panel valuer”. He has attended overseas seminars on the valuation of self-storage facilities, presented papers on the topic and is a recognised authority in this field.
Tony has considerable experience in rental negotiations, arbitration, litigation and insurance valuations. Members of the Institute have appointed him to act as an arbitrator, sole arbitrator and umpire in a number of significant valuation disputes.
He is a past Chairman of the Auckland branch of the. In 2002, Tony was made a “Fellow” of New Zealand Institute of Valuers and New Zealand Property Institute in recognition of his status within the industry and services to the profession.
